Idan Cohen Debuts Collection at NYFW
There are a lot of firsts during New York Fashion Week. First time a designer shows their collection at “the Tents”, first time the temperature drops below 5 degrees and the first time a wedding is held! New (to the States) designer Idan Cohen has checked two of those firsts. This past weekend has been an exciting whirlwind for the 26 year old Israeli designer as he showed his collection for the first time and married longtime business and life partner, Elad Borenstein, right on his catwalk! (Talk about all of your dreams culminating into one moment)!
Cohen is not new to the fashion world. As a child he wandered the factory of the family’s Denim brand (Crocker) and dreamt of an international fashion brand of himself. After working his way up to Creative Director, he realized that his passions laid with bridal and eveningwear. After graduating from the prestigious Marangoni fashion school in London, Idan returned to Israel in 2011 and opened up his own studio in Tel Aviv. Today, 3 years later, the studio has moved to a 4,000 square foot store in the trendy Neve Tzedek neighborhood.
Idan’s Fall/Winter 2015 Collection that made its debut Saturday at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week played with risqué cutouts, pastels, metallics and dark hues. It pushed the envelope and really teased the eye with skillfully placed fabric that left very little to the imagination but because of the ethereal sheer overlay and impeccable beading, still looked tasteful. At the end of the show, Idan endearingly walked out with the last model whose dress was a bit difficult to walk in. Each model’s look was complete with Christian Louboutin pumps. You can be certain will appear on many red carpets for seasons to come.
