Some people get an adrenaline rush from rollercoasters. Others from skydiving or scary movies. Me? I get an adrenaline rush from shopping, and not just any kind of shopping, vintage shopping. Not only does shopping vintage give you that immediate rush of satisfaction, but unlike many clothes we buy, (especially trendy things we know will be out by next season) that adrenaline rush becomes a staying, magical force. When you walk into a Zara or an H&M, you know what to expect and you know what you’ll get. Alternatively, each shop is one-of-a-kind with its own vibes, personality and unique garb.
When I walk through the doors of any vintage shop, I give myself ample time to get lost in the world that each item of clothing holds. It’s no secret that New York (especially the East Village) is known for its amazing vintage. But did you know thar Israel has its fair share of hidden treasure shops as well? Here are two of my favorites and the two places that need to be on any thrifting enthusiast's list.
Trumpeldor Vintage is located in Jerusalem on 18 Nissim Bechar Street in the Nachlaot neighborhood. It is THE place to go if you have a second-half-of-the-20th-century craving. The dresses are stunning and they also have killer shoes and accessories.

If you want late '60's/early '70's threads, Kassima Vintage on 23, Nahalat Binyamin Street in Tel Aviv is your bag, baby. (Attempted Austin Powers reference as a nod to the '60's). This shop has Kaftans and maxis galore! (One can never have too many Kaftans, especially of the paisley kind). If you really dig through it you might find some top designer names.

Some tips when shopping vintage:
1. Pick pieces that can be paired with things you already own
2. Research your buy when you get home! It's fun and it will make your piece that much more special.
3. Get to know the friendly folk who work there. They are always helpful and can recommend things for you if you are looking for something specific.
4. Come in with plenty of time to kill. I spend about an hour and a half per store (I'm a little cray).
