Tel Aviv Fashion Week 2017

For some, this week was just like any other ordinary week. (If you consider any other ordinary week to have all four seasons rolled into it, but that's for another discussion). For others, (like yours truly), it was more than just a snowy showdown with Stella. Sure, I got the opportunity to bust out my snow boots at the start of many Tiffanys' and Brittanys' #springbreak, but it was also Tel Aviv Fashion Week!! This was the event's 5th installment and, like always, sponsored by Uri Levy, owner and co-director of Gindi Investments real estate company and produced by the ever-creative, Motty Reif.

This year's fashion week also coincided with the 60th anniversary of the iconic Israeli swimwear brand, Gottex. A special homage retrospective presentation opened the week.

A Gottex look from the iconic collection inspired by the Israeli High Priest's uniform.

Among the designers that showcased their latest collections were Gideon and Karen Oberson, Shai Shalom, Tovale+, Idan Laros, Maskit, Tamara Salem, Gadi Elimelech, Noveau Riche Dog and the brilliant students of Shenkar College of Engineering and Design.

This fashion week saw maximalism, feminine vibes and futurism abound. From more ruffles than a bag of Lays chips to gowns flowing like the Land of Milk and Honey, this fashion week certainly showed where the minds of Israeli designers are and where they are headed in the future.

As always, what made this display distinctly Israeli was the brilliant innovation, creativity and sense of community that brought everyone together.
