Flats Make the World Go 'Round

Humans who put a check in the “F” box when asked their sex, let me ask you a question. Can you imagine a world without flats? A world where you had to wear heels all the time? Walking on thumbtacks for a night is bearable but to have that be your ONLY option!?

Ladies, when we put on heels we know what we are getting ourselves into. We know that in a few hours (or less, for those of us who aren’t so lucky), we will all be in our own personal hell. Besides having Beyoncé’s lower half for an evening, there are very few other pros. You are also well aware of the fact that the higher your heels are that night, the drunker you must become in order to dull the pain. (So if you trip, and in the process, grab the nearest basic girl’s extensions for balance, thus quite upsetting her, tell her to blame it on the Henney). BUT you also (blissfully) know that the next morning when you meet up with your gals for Sunday brunch, your tootsies will be rewarded with comfortable, padded and cushioned flats.

Without flats, I don’t think we would even have heels whose heights rival the Empire State building. If women knew that pumps and stilettos were the only footwear option, we’d submit ourselves to the torture only when ABSOLUTLEY necessary, (Weddings, Bar Mitzvahs, your dog’s birthday, etc.) and kitten heels would finally get the love they so deserve.

Ok, now that we are done imagining such a scary and horrible alternate reality, here are some of my favorite and most comfortable flats by Yosi Samra.

Yosi Samra invented the fold-up ballet flat. Yes, you heard that right. Before becoming a super successful shoe designer, Samra, worked as a promoter in a downtown NYC bar and at the end of every night, he saw women clutching their heels in one hand and limping out the door. He knew that they needed a shoe that was travel friendly and could fit into most bags. That was nine years ago. Today, he has expanded his brand to include boots, slippers and bags. His shoes are sold in 85 countries, including Israel, Samra’s family’s native country.

I love to wear them with boyfriend jeans cuffed once with a plain white tee, cozy scarf and my favorite leather jacket. They also happen to fit very nicely in my bag (*wink *wink).

Yosi Samra flats can be bought here, and on The Outnet.

So next time you stuff your foot into a Loub, remember to thank your lucky flats.
