Back to School

This is my favorite time of year for so many reasons. New York Fashion Week is right around the corner (September 4th-11th), the majestic shores of Queens and Brooklyn finally transform from ice-block, glacial freezing to just plain cold (but bearable enough to finally take a 3 minute dip), it officially becomes acceptable to start stocking up on wonderful fall sweaters, jackets and scarves and school is back in session.

Some of you may be thinking, "Going back to school!? This is something you actually enjoy??" The answer is yes, I did enjoy going back to school. (I say did because I recently graduated). Up until this past May, I attended LIM College, a business fashion school in New York City. I loved coming back and seeing all of my friends and professors. I also loved seeing the garments on display throughout our buildings that my talented fellow students actually made themselves.

I'm sure all of you know that New York City is known for its prestigious fashion schools (FIT, LIM, Parsons & Pratt) but did you know that Tel Aviv holds their own as well? The Shenkar College of Engineering and Design, located in Ramat Gan is Israel's most renowned institute for fashion and has churned out great names like Alber Elbaz (Artistic Director at Lanvin), Kobi Halperin (Kenneth Cole Women's Sportswear Creative Director) and Nili Lotan.

Every year, the graduates of Shenkar put on a fashion show and showcase their very own designs for the top dogs in the industry (pretty sweet final project if you ask me). This year's graduating class had designs ranging from sporty to sweet to extremely structured.

So, in the spirit of going back to school, here are a few of the designs from the Shenkar Class of 2014 that made my heart skip a beat:
