One-Piece Wonder

Summer might be winding down (noooo!), but there is still a lot of beach time that can be squeezed in before that fateful, bittersweet weekend where you officially must come to terms with the fact that summer is ending. (FYI: The end of summer according to whoever made up the no-white-after-labor-day rule, not what the calendar says). That being said, there is still time to go to one last summer concert/festival, try out one more bikini body diet (but you have to start NOW, like right this second) and buy that one last bathing suit that makes you want to run across the beach in slo-mo, Pam Anderson style.

When I think of one-piece bathing suits, I no longer think of that shudder-worthy floral number that my babushka wore to the beach. One-piece bathing suits have come a long way since then, with bold colors, risqué cutouts and new silhouettes (aka the faux-kini, where it's pretty much a one-piece except for that sliver of skin showing just below the boobage) .

Gal Angel, designer of Ugly Duckling swimwear speaks this new one-piece language. Her swimwear ranges from retro 50's-inspired one pieces to some really fun rainbow numbers (Tel Aviv gay pride week was not that very long ago). Gal started this label in the summer of 2008 in Tel Aviv and also designs lingerie and loungewear!

Here are some of my favorite pieces, all available on her website and her Etsy page.

Retro rainbow-striped
